CANVAS FOR FAMILIES
Lindale ISD has implemented CANVAS as the district’s learning platform. All students, Pre-K through 12th grade, will use Canvas to access course materials, interact with their classmates and teachers, actively engage in assignments, take assessments and more.Â

HOW DO STUDENTS ACCESS CANVAS?
Students access Canvas by going to lindaleisd.instructure.com and logging in with their school email address and password. School email addresses and passwords can be retrieved in Skyward. Your student's password is their five digit number with lisd in front. Ex: lisd12345 Students will have to sign out of all personal Google/Gmail accounts in order to access the Canvas login screen. Then, they will login with their school Gmail account.
HOW DO I USE THE CANVAS PARENT APP?
Yes, after you create your parent account and pair it with your students, you can use the Canvas Parent App.

DO ALL PARENTS NEED A CANVAS ACCOUNT?
Yes. Since all LISD students will be using Canvas, all LISD parents will benefit from a Canvas Parent account.

HOW CAN I CREATE A PARENT ACCOUNT FOR CANVAS?
First, retrieve the your student’s pairing code:

Step 1: Get your student’s school email address and password from Skyward Family Access. Your student's password is their five digit number with lisd in front. Ex: lisd12345

Step 2: Have your student log into Canvas at lindaleisd.instructure.com using Safari or Chrome. (A pairing code cannot be generated in the Canvas app.)

Step 3: After your student logs in, they need to click on “Account” and “Settings”. In Settings, on the right of the page, there will be a “Pair with Observer” button. Click on that button.

Step 4: Copy the pairing code that appears.

Step 5: Have your student log out of their Canvas account.
Next, create your Canvas parent account and add the code:

Step 1: Go to lindaleisd.instructure.com/login/canvas

Step 2: Start a new account by clicking “Parent of a Canvas User? Click here for an account!”

Step 3: Enter your information and put in the pairing code generated from your student’s account. Click “Start Participating”.

Step 4: Add any additional students in your household by getting their individual pairing code from their student account. Then in your parent Canvas account, click Account, then Settings, then Observing. There you’ll see a +Student button where you can add additional students.
WHAT DOES MY STUDENT DO WHEN THEY NEED HELP WITH CANVAS?

Step 1. First, check the Troubleshooting Document linked below to see if the answer to the issue is there. If the student is using the Canvas Student App, have them use the browser version (lindaleisd.instructure.com) in Safari or Chrome.

Step 2. Second, check the Canvas Help Guides in the Help button in Canvas to see they can find an answer to their question.

Step 3. Third, contact the school's Library & Media Center for help.
